Since recovering from COVID-19, Hanks has donated several pints of blood plasma. It contains antibodies produced by the immune system that specifically recognize and destroy the coronavirus.
On Wednesday, wife Rita Wilsonshared on social media aphoto in the donation center. Tom Hankstweeted a photofrom last week’s contribution to science. He gave much more than pint of plasma that’s the color of mucus. He joked that donating was “as easy as taking a nap.”
Doctorssuccessfully treated some critically ill patientswith antibodies from people who recovered from COVID. Also, scientists believe those antibodies hold the secret to developing a vaccine. (New York Post)
