Carrie Underwood delivered a bonus performance when she appeared as a special guest at comedian Nate Bargatze’s holiday special, hosted at the historic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Underwood performed her infectious anthem that serves as a tribute to the comfortable clothing most people choose to wear for holiday meals. She released “Stretchy Pants” in November 2021 — just in time for Thanksgiving — but has never played it live until she took the Opry stage for Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas. The star-studded holiday show also included Saturday Night Live stars Mikey Day and Ashley Padilla, comedian Derrick Stroup, the Tennessee Titans, and artists Noah Kahan, Martina McBride, Darius Rucker and Jelly Roll.
“So bring on the turkey, potatoes, casserole dishes/ 'Cause I ain't messing around with them buttoned up britches/ You got them skinny jeans on, girl, I feel sorry for you/ ‘Cause I just tried everything, and I'm going back for round 2/ I got my stretchy pants on”
Underwood surprised the audience when she joined Bargatze and Rucker on stage to perform “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” The show aired on December 19, and will air again on Christmas Eve. Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas airs on CBS and is now streaming on Paramount+, Underwood wrote in her caption as she shared a clip of her performance on Instagram. “Get your stretchy pants on this holiday season! 😂🎄👖”
